 Trick Tips

Here are some trick tips to help all you beginners.

I'll try to make my tips easy to scan, but also as specific as possible.

How to ...

Ollie:

1. Start with your front foot in the middle of the board and your back foot on the tail.
2. Stamp down on the tail while sliding your toes up the middle of the board.
3. Level out the board with your feet.
4. Place your feet over the trucks and land all 4 wheels at approx. the same time.

Pop Shuvit

1.Start with your front foot behind the front truck and your back foot on the heel side of the tail.
2.Stamp down on the tail but don't move your front foot.
3.To do a frontside Pop Shuvit sweep your back foot in front of you, to do a backside Pop Shuvit sweep your back foot behind you.
4.To land catch your board with your front foot and let your wheels land.

Kickflip

1.Start off with your front foot in the middle of the board with your toes to the heel side of the board.
2.Stamp down on the the tail and simultaneously slide your front foot until your foot goes off the board and your board goes into a flip.
3.When your board has spun around so that it's level with your feet catch it with your feet, level out and land.

Heelflip

1.Do everything the same as a Kickflip only put your front foot more to the toe side of your board when you're starting off.

If you're lucky enough to have a local skateshop you should go out and get a skate tool. It should have every size of tool and type of tool that you'll need for your board.

In this area I'll include a list of all the material necessary to perform the tasks I'm describing on this page.

Terminology

There isn't too much terminology to do with skateboarding but these are the ones I can think of at the moment.

ABEC=the higher the ABEC mark is on your bearings the faster and smoother the ride will be.
Riser Pads=piece of rubber between board and truck to give more power when turning and to prevent your wheels from touching the board.
Trucks=skateboarding name for axles.
Bushing=lump of rubber in truck to allow turning on skateboard.
Grip Tape=sort of sand paper o top of board to help grip.
